Frozen Fun and Frosty Brews: Navigating the Ice Bar Adventure in Amsterdam
17/03/2024
Our Amsterdam escapades took a thrilling turn at 9:00 pm when we stepped into the extraordinary world of the Ice Bar, an experience that promised to be anything but your average pub visit. With anticipation buzzing and a few pre-game pubs under our belts, we were more than ready for what lay ahead.
Greeted with three tokens each – two silver and a golden one – we were ushered into an adventure that blurred the lines between a night out and an arctic expedition. The golden token was our ticket to a 'free' drink at the main bar, a welcoming start to our icy journey. But the real magic awaited us beyond, in the chiller, a bone-chilling -16 degree Celsius haven sculpted entirely out of ice. Decked out in a ship theme, complete with frozen skeletons and a stoic polar bear, it was like stepping into a scene from a frostbitten tale of old. The ceiling and walls glistened with ice, transforming the space into a winter wonderland (or, more accurately, a winter nightclub).
Clad in my trusty Canada Goose, the cold was but a mere whisper against my Canadian resilience. Toby and Korben, however, weren't as immune to the icy grip of our surroundings. But the chill did little to dampen our spirits, especially once we had our ice glasses in hand – yes, glasses made entirely of ice. The novelty was too tempting to resist, and I found myself taking a bite out of mine, the cold snap adding to the thrill.
While Toby and I opted for a hefty Heineken followed by a double shot, Korben chose the path of double shots from the get-go, a subtle yet bold move. The experience was nothing short of spectacular, a blend of chilling atmosphere and warm camaraderie, making it a standout memory from our Amsterdam journey. And at €24.50, it was an absolute steal for an unforgettable night. The Ice Bar isn't just a place to grab a drink; it's an immersive adventure that's a definitive must-see in Amsterdam.

You may notice that we magically gained some people in the pictures! This is because we did another trip to Amsterdam and of course.. We have had to come back to the famous IceBar and show James and Blue the freezer!
If I am wearing a bow-tie that is from the most recent visit (August)!
